Fixated Friday-The Liar Society Button Fun

So like I said I am OBSESSED with this book. (remember my fetish with Paranormalcy? This is like ten times worse because A. I never got an ARC of it  2. Due to school I was unable to read it in one sitting) To celebrate I have even made myself same buttons.

Yeah they aren't good but they work for me. If you have read this book and LOVED IT please help spread the word about it. If you haven't add it to your TBR pile on GoodReads  (yes right now!)

Waiting on Wednesday: Cryer's Cross

I'm still waiting...

Cover:

Description:

The community of Cryer’s Cross, Montana (population 212) is distraught when high school freshman Tiffany disappears without a trace. Already off-balance due to her OCD, 16-year-old Kendall is freaked out seeing Tiffany’s empty desk in the one-room school house, but somehow life goes on... until Kendall's boyfriend Nico also disappears, and also without a trace. Now the town is in a panic. Alone in her depression and with her OCD at an all-time high, Kendall notices something that connects Nico and Tiffany: they both sat at the same desk. She knows it's crazy, but Kendall finds herself drawn to the desk, dreaming of Nico and wondering if maybe she, too, will disappear...and whether that would be so bad. Then she begins receiving graffiti messages on the desk from someone who can only be Nico. Can he possibly be alive somewhere? Where is he? And how can Kendall help him? The only person who believes her is Jacian, the new guy she finds irritating...and attractive. As Kendall and Jacian grow closer, Kendall digs deeper into Nico's mysterious disappearance only to stumble upon some ugly—and deadly—local history. Kendall is about to find out just how far the townspeople will go to keep their secrets buried.

What Drew me in?

I am a BIG fan of the Wake series. I love the way Lisa McMann writes so I figure it will be just as good. Besides the fact that she is an epic writer there is the description... are you kidding me? WOW! Then there is that creepy count down widget (you know which one I am talking about with the help me!).

Cryer's Cross will be published by Simon Pulse on February 8th, 2011.

The Cinderella Society by Kay Cassidy

Quotes:

“In a lot of ways playing Cinderella is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. You are terrified of what you might see as it unfolds, but you can’t not look. Especially when you suspect that you might be the train” p91

“To celebrate our strength, embrace our future, and be extraordinary” p281

“Just Breathe” p272

Epic Wins:

  • This book is the kind that alters your thinking. I usually doubt myself at every turn but the Cindy’s saying (“No wicked chatter”) comes to mind every time I think negatively now. It inspires and electrifies.
  • Jess: She has major doubts about herself (which I relate to) but she is fairly confident (which I admire). It sounds weird but she always holds the little doubt in her head.
  • The society: A girl power organization that works to defend against evil (The Wickeds) and restores confidence to girls? Yeah I dig it!
  • I loved how the society encouraged you to look good and do good but be YOU.
  • The Cindys: I love how confident these girls are! They Radiate for Jess, in a way. That she really needs to accomplish her mission.
  • Heather: Mother? Dead. Father? Drunk. She has nobody to turn to making her the ideal target for the Wickeds. When needed Heather shines brightly in a way that nobody can.
  • The three groups (Reggies, Wickeds, and Cindys) who coexist working with or against each other. Basically loved this concept.
  • Headquarters: While you are secretly planning to bring down a secret group of evil doers why not hold HQ at a coffee house?
  • Sara Jane (aka SJ) is my new idol. She is one of those people who can keep calm in virtually any situation. I loved her approach to things.

Epic Fails:

  • Ryan: In the beginning I really liked him, he was true and cute and just overall adorable. Unfortunately, his actions lead me to add him to this list. They vow to give it another shot but I am afraid I will not be holding my breath or crossing my fingers. I had a friend who went through the same situation and she was really torn up because she loved the guy but he wasn’t ready to go in that deep.
  • Wickeds (you knew they would be here). A sinister group of girls trying to infiltrate the Reggie’s and make puppets (you know the usual take over the world scheme). They are the type of villains you love to hate.
  • Lexi: She could have been so much more but everyone has their choice and she made hers. So here she sits a wicked.

Overall:

This book was everything a girl needs to see the power she holds (no not paranormal status) actual real-life power that blows people away… CONFIDENCE! So hands down loved it :P

Fixated Friday:The Liar Society (One woman street team)

So for the last few weeks I have been obsessing over a book...okay so I obsess over a lot of books but not like this one. I did a W.O.W on it, I have a review written up for it, and I have talked with the authors and stalked their blog (here). So I think it is time for me to share my obsession. You people will have NO problem getting hooked on this book. So what book is it?

Waiting on Wednesday: Sean Griswold's Head

Cover:

GR Description:

According to her guidance counselor, fifteen-year-old Payton Gritas needs a focus object—an item to concentrate her emotions on. It's supposed to be something inanimate, but Payton decides to use the thing she stares at during class: Sean Griswold's head. They've been linked since third grade (Griswold-Gritas—it's an alphabetical order thing), but she's never really known him.
The focus object is intended to help Payton deal with her father's newly diagnosed multiple sclerosis. And it's working. With the help of her boy-crazy best friend Jac, Payton starts stalking—er, focusing on—Sean Griswold . . . all of him! He's cute, he shares her Seinfeld obsession (nobody else gets it!) and he may have a secret or two of his own.
In this sweet story of first love, Lindsey Leavitt seamlessly balances heartfelt family moments, spot-on sarcastic humor, and a budding young romance.

My Thoughts:
"What if the love of your life was literally right in front of you?", I just love that!

Girl Stolen by April Henry

Description:

Sixteen year-old Cheyenne Wilder is sleeping in the back of a car while her mom fills her prescription at the pharmacy. Before Cheyenne realizes what's happening, their car is being stolen--with her inside! Griffin hadn’t meant to kidnap Cheyenne, all he needed to do was steal a car for the others. But once Griffin's dad finds out that Cheyenne’s father is the president of a powerful corporation, everything changes—now there’s a reason to keep her. What Griffin doesn’t know is that Cheyenne is not only sick with pneumonia, she is blind. How will Cheyenne survive this nightmare, and if she does, at what price?

Epic Wins:

  • Words to describe it: Thrilling, Spine-tingling, and a dash of possible romance.
  • You can’t get much better than this book when it comes to on the edge of your seat craziness.
  • Cheyenne: The blind girl who gets kidnapped. She is spunky and has spirit. Even when she is deathly sick she manages to come up with a plan.
  • Griffin: A thief, and a bad one at that. He goes to steal a car and ends up accidently kidnapping a girl. This kid has some of the worst luck.
  • The ending, but I don’t want to spoil it so you will have to deal with nada.
  • The concept is amazing! A blind girl gets kidnapped and has to try and escape. A boy accidently steals a human and ends up falling for her. GENIUS!
  • Cheyenne is a smart cookie, very smart. She pulls the wool over her captures eyes a couple of times, quite beautifully really.
  • The way the writing builds up suspense till it’s ringing your neck, you can feel the thick layers of suspense.
  • The way the two characters lives are so different but in these crazy coincidences (which in the words of Gibbs I don’t believe in coincidence) they end up holding on to hope in one other.

Epic Fails:
Villain Edition

  • Griffins father Roy: He’s a maniac! Oh my goodness, I mean talk about creeper. To find out why he is such a weirdo, but the perfect villain, read the book!
  • The Henchman: The two goons who are Roy’s boys. You know the ones that knock heads when necessary. Come on they are essential to a villainous operation! They are so funny at times though.

Overall:
I LOVED the fact that book starts right away, no gobbly gook ;). There was never a dull moment and it was really fun to watch the characters. I would say this book is some kind of awe.

Description:

Violet McKenna isn’t a normal girl with normal teenage issues; she has more to contend with than most people could handle. Violet thought she was just crazy when she had a vivid vision of her dad’s murder. Her life started falling apart when her premonition came true. She’s had flashes of other events too. The problem was nobody believed her until she found a new school: Winterhaven.
At Winterhaven, Violet finally feels like she belongs. She quickly finds a close group friends and discovers that they too have psychic ‘gifts’—as do all the students at Winterhaven. But as soon as she feels settled she discovers the most intriguing and alluring boy she has ever met, and things quickly go awry. As the attraction between them grows, intense visions of the boy’s death start to haunt her. In her premonitions the secret he is unwilling to share begins to reveal itself. And to Violet's horror, she learns that their destinies are intertwined in a critical—and deadly—way.

The Demon Trappers Daughter by Jana Oliver

Raiting:

Characters: 5/5
Voice: 5/5
Humor: 4/5
Plot: 4/5
Intensity: 5/5
Average: 4.6/5

My Thoughts:

Riley was a brave character. She defied authority and demanded respect. She fought for her voice among the trappers though few heeded her words. Oliver’s writing portrayed her characters to a tee and the shifting from one voice to another was smooth. The snark was tangible especially in the intense moments. Like the trusty beat of a heart the plot rose and fell in exact rhythm. The intensity also mimicked the plot.

Overall:

If you don’t check this book out the demons will get you.
