Wicked Winter Read-A-Thon

"The Wicked Winter Read-A-Thon is a time when we all get together to dedicate the weekend of February 3-5 to as much reading as possible. You read as much as you can in order to get yourself a little further through that huge to-read pile! We know real life gets in the way and even if you can’t participate more than one day, you’re welcome to join in on the fun!

In the meanwhile, we will be hosting book-related challenges where you can win some awesome prizes and have a Twitter party at the hashtag #WWReadathon! You can posts updates on your blog, Twitter, Goodreads or Facebook — as long as the profile is public and we all can enjoy your reading progress! For this edition, we've also planned a chat surprise in order to include those who aren't on Twitter in some chatting fun. But exactly what will happen is a surprise for now."

My TBR pile keeps growing at a steady rate so I decided to join in the read-a-thon. Not sure how much I'll read but I'm hopping to read about three books (one per day?). Let's start with a list!!

Books that I might possibly read during this read-a-thon:
  • Freshman Year & Other Unnatural Disasters by Meredith Zeitlin
  • Transcendent- short stories
  • Pretty Crooked by Elisa Ludwig
  • The Queen of Kentucky by Alecia Whitaker
  • Pure by Julianna Baggott
I'll most likely update on Twitter but I might make this a live blog post and just update it on here. As far as when I am going to read, it's unlikely that I will read today but if I do I'll update.

UPDATES:
I finished Freshman Year and started Pure

Read-a-thon Updates: Day 2

Update #6

I love this kid's enthusiasm don't you?!

GOOD MORNING!! *waves*

Kare: I finished Wintergirls last night!!!! It was really good. So my page number total is now at 290. *throws copious amounts of glitter* I am going to start If I Stay by Gayle Forman.

Dallin: In some guys backyard pretending to camp.

Min Challenge:

Super Team up

Gwen from Nevermore and Conner from Something Like Fate. Conner is really nice and artistic and Gwen is funny and spontaneous. They are both good friends to the people they know, even when no one else will talk to that person. Also: They both see the world as glass half-full. I think they make a cute couple.

Update #7

haha looking at the glass half full :D

Kare: I have read 11 pages from If I Stay. My grand total is now up to 301. Um I may or may not have fallen asleep again.

Dallin: Lost in the void of time and space after he was hijacked by aliens.

mini challenge: Required reading that isn't so bad.
First I will entertain you with a rant. I think students should be allowed to pick what books they want to read. At least ONE book a year should be one of the students choice that way they learn to love reading for what it is. end rant. With that being said I would love to see Sorta Like A Rock Star by Matthew Quick as required because it shows hope and a positive attitude. We could all use some more positive in our lives right?

Update #8

This kid is my hero!

Kare: My grand total is 333. No joke. I am still reading If I Stay :D

Dallin: Home but he is dead like a dog. He might join in on the reading fun later but for now he is kicking old school preschool style with a nap.

Mini Challenge:
Well to be honest if you asked me two months ago I would have said it doesn't matter. Now? It matters. I like them in ABC order according to author. That's pretty much the only way series can stick together. And if they aren't together I can't admire the way they look together from afar.

Update #9

CAKE!!!

Kare: DEFEATED!! My brain won't let me read!! I read maybe 10 whole pages. I am on page 55.

Dallin: He has picked up Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. No idea what page he is on. *shrugs*

Update #10

Odd man out. Be original.

Kare: No further reading. Sorry

Dallin: Is on page 258. That brings his total to 525. SMOKED!!

Mini Challenge:
Uh the only book I have read is Wintergirls BUT luckily it was pretty inspiring, inspiring as in its message was PROFOUND. :D

Update #11

Fear her.

Kare: I know I know. I sort of gave up. For some reason I just can't read. Oh and I feel asleep again :P

Dallin: Dallin is on page 315. His grand total is 582 or something like that.

Mini Challenge:
I would love to live in the world of Harry Potter. I mean come on HOGWARTS!!! Need I say more? Also: they have magic!!

What has been your LEAST favorite thing about the read-a-thon? I didn't get to focus enough on actually reading the mini challenges and updates where too soon.
Are you on track to meet your goals? Hmmm not really. ButI don't mind.

Will you be participating tomorrow? Do you have any new goals? Yes and I really want to finish at least three books.

Read-a-thon Updates

Update #1:

Kare:
Uh don't laugh but I fell asleep so my numbers are totally bogus! I am not even going to tell you, it's THAT bad. :P Oh well here's to hoping I don't fall asleep again. Also I changed books like three times. I gave up on Sleepless (oh the Irony) and picked up a book called Wild Orchid. After falling asleep in it I have now decided to read Winter Girls by Laurie Halse Anderson.

Dallin:
Number of Pages: 138
Currently Reading: Something Like Fate by Susane Colasanti
Number of Books Finished: None

Mini Challenge:

Favorite Book to Movie:
Harry Potter (well duh!)

Least Favorite:
Percy Jackson (I mean really did they get anything right? Oh yeah the title :P)

Update #2:

I totally want this shirt!!

Kare:
So I started Wintergirls and I got into it 41 pages. My total pages read is: 53. I have yet to finish a book.

Dallin:
He is not currently reading anything as far as I know. He has finished Something like Fate bringing his total word count to 267.

Mini Challenge:
Wordle Epic Book Nerd style

Update #3:

Kare:
I am still on Wintergirls and I love it! I am on page 90 now, so that shoots me up 49 pages bringing me to a grand total of 102.

Dallin:
He has yet to pick up another book. BUT He says he is on the last level of Halo. Whatever that means :P

Mini Challenge:

Shaman aimed the laser, with precision. She always hit her mark. In the first few tests it had been random pieces of fruit. They started larger ones, watermelon, and ended with the smallest, limes. She had perfect scores across the board. She would win, until her eyes met the next target. Her heart dropped. It felt like someone squeezed lime juice in her eye.

It was a goat. She knew what she had to do; she hated what the results would be. The laser flew. It missed the goat by a mere 1/2 inch. She never missed a mark.

Update #4

Yum! I just want to eat them!!
Kare:
I am now on page 121. That brings my grand total to 133. I am still on Wintergirls but I am enjoying it so I don't care!!

Dallin:
MIA. He went camping and won't be back till tomorrow. Oh poo I hope this gives me time to pass him!! *laughs evily*

Mini Challenge:
Book Puzzle

Update #5
this kid is going places...

Kare:
I am now on page 129.  I know not very far but I plan to use the next few hours to catch up. That makes my grand total 141 pages. Still reading Wintergirls.

Dallin:
Probably roasting marshmallows, he send his regards for not being here.

Mini Challenge: My sentence of bookish proportions.

Anna and the French Kiss Ditched Lola and the Boy Next Door.

Books:

Ready, Set, BANG!!

This dinosaur will sound the start of our read-a-thon!!

So here we go!!

Kare's Goals:
I'd like to finish four books. I don't really care what four books I read as long as I read four. I am starting with Sleepless by Thomas Fahy.

Dallin's Goal:
JUST READ AS MUCH AS HE POSSIBLY CAN!!! He is starting with Something Like Fate by Susane Colasanti.

I will try and update as much as possible but we'll see. Updates will include: Total Number of Pages Read and Total Number of Books Read. Also titles of the book we are currently reading.  Oh and maybe more pictures of dinosaurs.

LET THE READING BEGIN!!!!!!

just sayin.

Epic Read-A-Thon Overview

So as a lot of you know there was a read-a-thon this weekend. Twas Epic. Anyway I just thought I would share the books I ended up finishing.

Three book. No really more like maybe two but oh well.

Nevermore by Kelly Creagh
(I was a little less then half way through this book when the read-a-thon started BUT its like a little less then six hundred pages so to my credit it was like a whole book)

Princess for Hire by Lindsay Leavitt
(Which is bomb-diggity and hilarious to boot. The main character felt like Brielle from Awesome Bookworm. No joke Brielle, she even has a wall O'Awesome. It was creepy.)

Beastly by Alex Flinn
(You can't put this into words really. So I am offically possitive that the movie couldn't possibly be better then the book. NO WAY!)

SO... WOOT!! I got through a few books. My goal was five but that was pushing it. Thanks Brielle for that epic read-a-thon.

just sayin,
