Heavenly by Jennifer Laurens

Description:

I met someone who changed everything. Matthias. My autistic sister's guardian angel.

Honest.Inspiring.Funny.Hot.And immortal.

That was the problem. What could I do? I did what any other girl would do-I fell in love with him. Zoe's sister darts in front of cars. Her brother's a pothead. Her parents are so overwhelmed; they don't see Zoe lost in her broken life. Zoe escapes the only way she knows how: partying.

Matthias, a guardian sent from Heaven, watches over Zoe's autistic sister. After Zoe is convinced he's legit, angel and lost girl come together in a love that changes destiny. But Heaven on Earth can't last forever.

Epic Wins:

  • When the book opens I have to admit I didn't like Zoe but I grew to understand her. That understanding hooked me slowly and as Zoe changed I began to love her.
  • I tried REALLY hard but coming up with a reason to not adore Matthias, it was impossible. He was forgave freely, understood perfectly, and was profusely humble. I loved his ability to wrap Zoe in complete peace.
  • Abria’s story is sad, but at the same time I see why it is ok, Abria is the happiest little girl alive.
  • This book opens a window into the way a family’s dynamics change when a trial, like a child with autism.
  • Chase was a confusing character; he was the one person Zoe tells about Matthias. Personally I liked the kid but Zoe was a little busy being infatuated by Matthias (which is totally understandable). If things don’t work out between Zoe and Matthias, Chase is a VERY decent choice.
  • OK I’ll admit it I was sketchy about the book, there are about a million angel stories out there so why would I pick up this particular one? Lauren’s angels were God centered (which I loved) and they were NOT fallen or bad (not that that is a bad thing just new.
  • I really like how the sky mimicked the happenings in the book, like at intense parts the sky was dark.
  • The message even during trials you need to keep your family close, they are your only support system. Friends will fade, move on, but your family is there for the long run.

Epic Fail:

  • Like I said at first Zoe bothered me. The main thing was her attitude; it was like her little sister was a burden to her. Although she had this negative attitude I admired that she volunteered to help with Abria so much.

Quotes:
“His aura whooshed through my system– a warm reasurence as peaceful as sleep. Every cell tingled and felt ready to burst with sweet contentment” (Laurens 247)

just sayin,

  2. Me and Zoe took awhile to come to an understanding too. But Matthias and Abria made the story for me!
