Forgotten by Cat Patrick

Description:

Each night when 16 year-old London Lane goes to sleep, her whole world disappears. In the morning, all that's left is a note telling her about a day she can't remember. The whole scenario doesn't exactly make high school or dating that hot guy whose name she can't seem to recall any easier. But when London starts experiencing disturbing visions she can't make sense of, she realizes it's time to learn a little more about the past she keeps forgetting-before it destroys her future.

Part psychological drama, part romance, and part mystery, this thought-provoking novel will inspire readers to consider the what-if's in their own lives and recognize the power they have to control their destinies

Epic Wins:
  • LONDON- I HONESTLY loved her! I felt bad for her situation but she made the most of it. I thought it was incredible that she couldn't remember days previous but nobody could tell because she just dealt with it. It was really easy for me to relate to her, I like that in a character.
  • Forgetting yesterday and remembering tomorrow, such an unseen concept in young adult. It was pretty much like a cold glass of ice water after being in the Arizona heat. In the summer. At noon.  REFRESHING to say the least!
  • LUKE- So very cute. Every time she sees him she is appalled at his all around handsomeness (because she forgets what he looks like and is only left with a scribble that says: Luke is too cute… beware!!) and it sort of renews your love of the character.
  • The crazy notes she leaves for herself; it’s such a cool way to remember… its sort of her brain. It takes forgetting to a whole new level. If you don’t write it you forget it.
  • The writing was so – magical – the whole way through I was lapping up Cat’s words I couldn’t stop not even when the clock said 4:33 am (Okay that was totally just a coincidence! Except I don’t believe in those ) (4:33am is the time when London forgets everything)
  • It makes one wonder… If I were in this situation would I have been as okay with it? I know I would have failed half my classes in high school :P
  • WARNING: Major Twists and Turns ahead! Holy frap crap (yes I made that up sorry I do that a lot) You pick up subtle hints sure but I was SO not prepared  for what happened!
  • The crazy-cool factor (well one of them) of this books is that though it is technically paranormal-ish it felt like a contemporary the whole way through.
  • After she would wake up she would sound like a new character but with the same general voice. Eventually, after reading her notes, she would fall back into the same London but it was sort of a cool thing to experience.
  • Hey you with the face! There’s a message here from the book Forgotten for you! It says YOU control your future NO matter what!

Epic Fails:
  • This is hard because A) The book is clean B) No villans and C) I related a lot to London. So I will try for your sake to come up with something.
  • London may have been a bit rash at some points but what teen isn’t? (admit it you have been rash and immature!! I know I have been…)
  • Okay I tried…
Overall:

I read it in one sitting, okay more like devoured it like a starved and neglected child! Heck I even licked the plate clean! Like I said earlier the approach to her memory (it working backwards)  gave it a slight paranormal aspect while keeping the contemporary feel. This book was just WOWZA! No better word to describe it!

just sayin,
-Kare
